Electronic Scientific Journal mediating Biotechnology teachinglearning process in a STS aproach in the Technical Education CEFET/MG

Resumo: This work is part of a doctoral research developed with second year technical students at the Federal Center of Technological Education of Minas Gerais, CEFET-MG, in order to arouse the student’s interest in scientific research in a STS (Science Technology Society) education aproach. The student´s interest in the subject matter, as well as, in the scientific publication led to the creation of an open access electronic journal BioNews Science Magazine with the aim of contributing to the diffusion of new scientific knowledge on the theme. The National Curriculum and the National Guidelines for Secondary Education (Brazil 1999) emphasizes the contextualized teaching and learning process supported by the meaningful everyday experiences. According to Gomes (2005), the use of the Web in schools is increasingly cross-disciplinary. Incorporation of digital learning resources in education intends to mobilize and sensitize individuals to the issues surrounding the technology advancement. This work investigated the use of educational technology to draw alternative teaching and learning strategies about current issues in biotechnology. Scientific papers were written by the students with the use of a digital learning tool and published at “Bionews Science Magazine” Promising qualitative results were achieved.

Scientific papers were written by the students with the use of a digital learning tool and published at “Bionews Science Magazine” Promising qualitative results were achieved.Este trabalho faz parte de uma pesquisa de doutorado desenvolvida com alunos do segundo ano técnicos do Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais, CEFET-MG, a fim de despertar o interesse dos alunos pela pesquisa científica em uma abordagem CTS (Ciência, Tecnologia, Sociedade). O interesse dos alunos pelo assunto, bem como pela publicação científica levou à criação de uma revista eletrônica de acesso aberto a BioNews Science Magazine. A revista tem com o objetivo contribuir para a difusão de novos conhecimentos científicos sobre o tema e auxiliar no letramento digital dos alunos. O Currículo Nacional e as Diretrizes Nacionais para o Ensino Médio (Brasil 1999) enfatiza o ensino contextualizado e processo de aprendizagem apoiada pelas experiências significativas diárias. A incorporação de recursos digitais de aprendizagem na educação pretende mobilizar e sensibilizar as pessoas para as questões relacionadas com o avanço da tecnologia. Este trabalho investigou o uso de tecnologias educacionais para desenhar um ensino alternativo e estratégias de aprendizagem sobre questões atuais no campo da Biotecnologia e Meio Ambiente. Os artigos científicos foram escritos pelos alunos sob orientação dos professores com o uso de uma ferramenta digital de aprendizagem.
