Aspects of CTS focus in CEFET-MG vocational High School Techno Education from the participant students' view in the XXII Mostra Específica de Trabalhos e Aplicações

Resumo: Nowadays, the central idea of education focusing Science, Technology and Society (STS) is oriented to the development of activities with emphasis on decision-making, particularly related to social aspects impacted by Science and Technology, implying in ethical values education committed to society. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the reflection on the quality of teaching at the Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas  Gerais with regard to the approach to science, technology and society based on the vision built by high school techno professional education’ students during execution of a science fair. This study is descriptive and quantitative in nature. Data collection was performed by the application of a 26 affirmatives questionnaire, in which the student chooses only one Likert scale’s option. The research initial results show a scenario far from that one imagined to scientific and technological education via STS. Similar results have been obtained in other investigations carried out with Spanish students of similar age. We realized that literature provides experiences about different projects developed and increasingly aware about the potential of that approach to improving education in science and technology.

O objetivo deste trabalho é contribuir para as reflexões sobre a qualidade do ensino no Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais no que se refere à abordagem sobre Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade com base na visão construída por alunos da educação profissional técnica de nível médio durante a realização de uma feira de ciências. Este estudo é descritivo e de natureza quantitativa. A coleta de dados foi realizada pela aplicação de um questionário com 26 afirmativas, em que o estudante escolhe apenas uma opção da escala Likert. Os resultados iniciais da investigação revelam um cenário muito distante daquele que se imagina para uma educação científica e tecnológica via CTS. Achados similares foram obtidos em outras investigações realizadas com estudantes espanhóis de faixa etária semelhante.
