Towards the construction of a database on the biodiversity of freshwater microcrustaceans and physico-chemical environmental variables in rocky fields, we designed a prototype, for the identification of the different needs of each researcher of the project “Biodiversity of   freshwater microcrustaceans in rocky fields”. This project is a partnerships between the Institute of Biosciences of USP - São Paulo-SP, the Foundation UNESCO / HidroEX, the University of Minas Gerais (Campus of Frutal), University of Minas Gerais (Department of General Biology / ICB), Universidade Estadual Paulista (Dept. Zoology / IBB, Campus Botucatu), Catholic University of Brasilia (Lab Zoology), University of Brasilia (UNB) and the National Institute for Amazonian Researches (INPA). Database prototyping was preceded by individual and group interviews in order to obtain the basic parameters that will compose the database. After few demonstrations of the prototype and incorporation of some modifications suggested by the researchers, the users version of the database will be built, which will be more robust and with the possibility to become an on-line applicative for the use of the researchers of this project and, in the future, to become an open access database for the scientific community.
