Resumo: The present paper reports the results of a survey carried out in 2021 with seventeen students from a postgraduate program in Science and Mathematics education, professors in the same area. The mapping was performed regarding their performances and perceptions about teaching methods they use. The following question was answered: What is the importance of the method you use in the classes you teach? Discursive Textual Analysis was used and three categories emerged: 1) The impact of transmissive methods in the classroom; 2) The influence of methods on student motivation; 3) Teaching methods adopted and considered effective by teachers. The results suggest that the participants do not use exclusively transmissive methods in teaching, as they would not take into account the particularities of the students, reaching only the fixation of book contents, insufficient for the understanding of concepts and critical training, necessary for the development of autonomy.
