Application of an investigative experimental activity for water treatment education

Resumo: This paper describes an investigative experimental activity involving the stages of water treatment aiming at raising students’ awareness regarding the conscious use of water and the importance of knowing the chemistry of these stages. Forty students at the third year of the Technical Education of Logistics and Management integrated into the secondary school of a public school located in the town of Barueri (SP) took part in the survey. The development of the investigative experiment encompassed the three pedagogical steps proposed by Delizoicov, Angotti and Pernambuco (2011): Initial problematization, knowledge organization, and knowledge application. Our results demonstrated that the activity enabled an environment favorable to discussions, raising and corroboration of hypotheses as well as move and stimulate the students during chemistry classes, which benefits their awareness on the relevance of knowing the role of chemistry involved in their daily lives, and as citizens regarding the conscious use of water.

Nesse artigo descrevemos uma atividade experimental investigativa envolvendo as etapas de tratamento de água. Os objetivos dessa atividade foram sensibilizar os estudantes quanto ao uso consciente da água e perceberem a importância dos conhecimentos químicos nessas etapas. Participaram dessa atividade quarenta estudantes do 3º ano do Ensino Técnico de Logística e Administração integrado ao Ensino Médio de uma escola pública situada na cidade de Barueri (SP). O desenvolvimento do experimento investigativo compreendeu os três momentos pedagógicos propostos por Delizoicov, Angotti e Pernambuco (2011). Os resultados evidenciaram que essa atividade possibilitou um ambiente favorável a discussões, criação de hipóteses e comprovação das mesmas, levando ao envolvimento e motivação dos estudantes nas aulas de química, contribuindo assim para que percebessem a importância dos conhecimentos de química no seu cotidiano.
