Resumo: Although statistics are important for citizen training and are present in the school curriculum, students present difficulties in concepts such as representativeness, variability and uncertainty. This research aimed to analyze the performance of children of the 5th year in the construction of a pie chart, as well as to verify how an intervention, based on the use of digital technologies, can contribute significantly to the change of performance of these children. The research was carried out with two groups of the 5th grade, of 26 students, divided into a control and experimental group. The research was divided into three stages: pre-test, intervention and post-test. The data were analyzed in order to know and understand the performance of the students before and after the activities, as well as the evolution of strategies. It was verified that the children have difficulties in constructing pie charts, especially, since it is not an activity commonly explored in the school. The greatest difficulty is related in understanding the part-whole relationship present in this type of chart. Errors were observed in the construction of the graph as: absence of indication of title, categories and frequency. The intervention proved to be efficient with significant results.
