Environmental Education as a tool for the critical formation of mechanical engineers

Resumo: | This work deals with an investigation about the insertion of Environmental Education in a Mechanical Engineering course at a private university. It was intended to identify the conceptions that students had about environmental education and sustainability. Data collection was carried out by applying a questionnaire with open questions with a group of students of the course enrolled in the 7th. and 8th. semesters. The analysis of the results was made using the discourse analysis method. The results obtained showed that university students are concerned with environmental issues but are unable to articulate with social problems. In addition, they showed a misconception regarding the concepts questioned. It was concluded that there is a lack of incentive and content for Environmental Education in order to develop Sustainable Development, and that part of the students have a fragmented notion, they stated that the course was insufficient. |

Pretendeu-se identificar as concepções que os estudantes tinham sobre Educação ambiental e sustentabilidade. A coleta de dados foi realizada por aplicação de um questionário com questões abertas com um grupo de alunos do curso matriculados nos 7º. e 8º. semestres. A análise dos resultados foi feita pelo método de análise do discurso. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que os estudantes universitários se preocupam com as questões ambientais, mas não conseguem articular com os problemas sociais.
