Resumo: | The duties of pharmacists are the preparation and administration of medicines, epidemiology, drug reconciliation, reading and diagnosis of laboratory tests. Any error in mathematical calculations in the activities cited may cause serious damage to the patient's life and even lead to death. For this reason, it is indispensable that pharmaceutical professionals have solid mathematical knowledge to perform these calculations. This work, which is an experience report, aims to promote the discussion about the importance of teaching mathematics to pharmacy students. To do so, we carried out a bibliographic review associated with a qualitative research with students of the fifth semester of the Pharmacy Undergraduate Course of a private University of the city of São Paulo, which demonstrated that students, despite recognizing, during the course of the course, the importance of mathematics in their professional life as pharmacists, yet they are reluctant to study it. |

Qualquer erro de cálculos matemáticos nas atividades citadas, poderá causar graves danos à vida do paciente e até mesmo, levá-lo à óbito. Por esse motivo, é indispensável que profissionais farmacêuticos tenham sólidos conhecimentos matemáticos para realizar esses cálculos. Este trabalho, que é um relato de experiência, tem como objetivo promover a discussão sobre a importância do ensino de matemática para os estudantes de farmácia. Para tanto, realizamos uma revisão bibliográfica associada com uma pesquisa qualitativa com discentes do quinto semestre do Curso de Graduação em Farmácia de uma Universidade particular do município de São Paulo, que demonstrou que os estudantes, apesar de reconhecerem, com o decorrer do curso, a importância da matemática em sua vida profissional como farmacêuticos, ainda assim, mostram-se reticentes ao estudo da mesma.
