The History of Mathematics as educational resource: perceptions of students of Basic Education

Resumo: | This article presents a study developed about the use of history of mathematics as an educational resource. The aim is to verify the perception of students of Basic Education about the contributions of this resource for learning math. The research subjects were four teachers of mathematics who work in public schools of the city of Porto Alegre, 20 undergraduate students of Licentiate course in Mathematics members of the “Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à docência”- PIBID and 180 students of Basic Education. Therefore, teachers and future teachers developed projects and implemented in each school. Upon project completion, the students answered a questionnaire, subsequently analyzed by “Discursive Textual Analysis”. Shows that the use of history of mathematics, in the perception of students, favors the knowledge of the origin and evolution of mathematics, deepens your knowledge, makes it more effective learning and shows a relationship between different disciplines. |

Este artigo apresenta um estudo desenvolvido sobre o uso da História da Matemática como recurso pedagógico. Objetiva analisar a percepção de estudantes da Educação Básica acerca das contribuições desse recurso para aprendizagem de Matemática. Participaram como sujeitos de pesquisa quatro professores de Matemática que atuam em escolas estaduais do município de Porto Alegre, 20 licenciandos do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática integrantes do Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à docência – PIBID e 180 estudantes da Educação Básica. Para tanto, os bolsistas elaboraram projetos e aplicaram em cada escola. Ao término do projeto os estudantes responderam um questionário, posteriormente analisado por meio da Análise Textual Discursiva.
