Elaboration of augmented reality materials by High School students: impacts and possibilities

Resumo: This paper presents an evaluation of the elaboration of augmented reality materials from the Layar software by 35 second year high school students. The activities were developed during the application of a unit of learning in the discipline of physics involving the thematic of the processes of heat exchanges. Students formed teams, researched thematic, made printed posters augmented with augmented reality features and socialized the results of their investigations to the other colleagues. Through a qualitative analysis evaluating the observations in the classroom and the answers of the students in a questionnaire applied to the end of the learning unit, it was possible to identify that they presented motivation and engagement with the school issues. In addition, the students didn´t report difficulties in the manipulation of the software of augmented reality and consider that the fact of this technology allows the inclusion of elements such as videos and animations makes that the studied concepts are dynamized, facilitating the understanding of the contents. Among the negative points pointed out by the students are the intermittence in the connection of the wi-fi network of the school and the processing capacity of the computers used for the research and publishing of interactive print materials.

As atividades foram desenvolvidas durante a aplicação de uma unidade de aprendizagem na disciplina de física envolvendo a temática dos processos de transferência de energia térmica. Os estudantes formaram equipes, pesquisaram sobre a temática, confeccionaram cartazes impressos incrementados com recursos de realidade aumentada e socializaram os resultados de suas investigações para os demais colegas. Por meio de uma análise qualitativa avaliando as observações em sala de aula e as respostas dos estudantes em um questionário aplicado ao final da unidade de aprendizagem pôde-se identificar que eles apresentaram motivação e engajamento com as questões escolares. Ademais, os estudantes não relataram dificuldades na manipulação do software de realidade aumentada e consideram que o fato dessa tecnologia permitir a inclusão de elementos como vídeos e animações faz com que os conceitos estudados sejam dinamizados, facilitando a compreensão dos conteúdos.
