Resumo: Chemistry is a science that surrounds on three levels of knowledge: the macroscopic level, the microscopic and the symbolic. For effective learning, it is necessary that the chemistry teaching transits through these levels. However, previous studies have shown that chemistry students know only between the macroscopic and the symbolic, having a lack of understanding at the atomic-molecular level, causing a gap for effective learning chemistry. In this work sought to identify the conceptions of freshmen the Chemistry degree course about the concept of solutions, prioritizing the qualitative aspect and the process of mixtures formation at microscopic level, having a theoretical approach in the analysis of mental representations of the students and expanding the discussion about learning in chemistry. Data were collected from a questionnaire and interviews, and analyzed through analysis of content by categories. The results showed a lack of understanding of the atomic-molecular level concepts, assigned to the pre-knowledge acquired in high school, which prioritizes a quantitative education with a macroscopic approach to science.

Para uma aprendizagem efetiva se faz necessário que o ensino da química transite por esses níveis. Entretanto, trabalhos anteriores mostram que os alunos de química transitam somente entre o macroscópico e o simbólico, possuindo uma falta de compreensão no nível atômico-molecular, o que causa uma lacuna para uma aprendizagem química efetiva. No presente trabalho, buscou-se identificar as concepções dos ingressantes do curso de Licenciatura em Química sobre o conceito de soluções.  O aspecto qualitativo e o processo de formação de misturas em nível microscópico foram priorizados, tendo um enfoque teórico na análise das representações mentais dos pesquisados e ampliando a discussão sobre aprendizagem em química. Os dados foram coletados a partir da aplicação de um questionário e entrevistas, e analisados por meio de uma análise do conteúdo por categorias.
