Amateur videos of experiments produced by students: possibilities on learning’s assessment

Resumo: This paper discusses the production of experiments’ amateur videos by chemistry students aimed at investigating these videos in terms of technical aesthetic, of procedures and chemical concepts, as well as from students’ points of view. The videos were composed by different cultural and aesthetic elements which have been considered important in audiovisual materials. As an educative process, the video production fosters the engagement, freedom, creativity, and playfulness. Difficulties in terms of experiments’ conceptual explanation were observed. Recommendations concerning with lab safety and waste disposal were also absent. In this manner, the discussion of the videos between students and teacher can improve the educational process.

O objetivo da pesquisa foi investigar os vídeos em termos técnicos-estéticos, procedimentais e conceituais da química, bem como o ponto de vista dos produtores no intuito de potencializar esta como ferramenta para o processo de ensino. Os vídeos foram compostos por diversos elementos culturais e estéticos que podem ser considerados importantes em materiais audiovisuais, bem como para um processo educativo que favoreça o engajamento e fomente a liberdade, a criatividade e a diversão. Foram observadas algumas dificuldades na explicação conceitual dos experimentos e ausência de recomendações sobre segurança e o descarte de resíduos.
