Developing skills for dealing with personal finance: contributions of a mathematical modeling environment

Resumo: investigative environment on personal finance. It is a qualitative study, which prioritizes the description of the situation under study, seeking to extract some understanding of it. Therefore, it was provided to the students of higher education in technology, subject of this research, a learning environment from the perspective of mathematical modeling with the proposal to extend the ideas and knowledge on personal finance. The productions of the students in this environment consisted of data for this analysis. The results indicate that the proposed dynamic contributed to instigating the students to make considerations about the personal financial control, making use of mathematical models and concepts in a dynamic process of discussion, reflection and action that favored the development of positive attitudes about budget control personnel as well as on the mathematical knowledge.

É um estudo de natureza qualitativa, que prioriza a descrição da situação analisada e busca extrair dela alguma compreensão. Para tanto, foi proporcionado aos estudantes de cursos superiores em tecnologia, sujeitos desta pesquisa, um ambiente de aprendizagem estabelecido a partir da perspectiva da modelagem matemática, com a proposta de ampliar as reflexões e os conhecimentos sobre finanças pessoais. As produções dos estudantes, nesse ambiente, constituíram-se em dados para esta análise. Os resultados indicam que a dinâmica proposta contribuiu para instigar os estudantes a fazerem ponderações sobre o controle financeiro pessoal por meio de conceitos e modelos matemáticos.
