Resumo: In our globalized society, the student has been constantly subjected to information that needs to be decoded and understood, making descriptive statistics assume its key role in the interpretation and analysis of data. In this sense, the present work aims to present contributions and difficulties of a methodology of teaching descriptive statistics through of technology - specifically the spreadsheet - proposed and applied in a class of 2nd the students of the Dr. Almir Gabriel high school, located in the city of Oriximiná-PA. The referential is the theory of Meaningful Learning of David Ausubel and used a didactic sequence based on the concept of potentially significant teaching unit (UEPS), recommended by Marco A. Moreira. It was structured in thirteen meetings, with the contextualization of the Paraense culture. It showed that the research achieved proposed objectives by providing students with information treatment skills (decoding, comprehension, interpretation and retention) considering their participation in some stages of the statistical method. And also, that the insertion of the teaching methodology, proposed and applied, allowed to potentialize the teaching and learning process of descriptive statistics, contributed to the meaningful learning of the participating students.

Neste sentido, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar contribuições e dificuldades de uma metodologia de ensino de Estatística Descritiva por meio da tecnologia – especificamente da planilha eletrônica – proposta e aplicada em uma turma da 2ª série do ensino médio de uma escola estadual, localizada na cidade de Oriximiná-PA. O referencial teórico é a Teoria da Aprendizagem Significativa (TAS) de David Ausubel e utilizou-se de uma sequência didática baseada no conceito de Unidade de Ensino Potencialmente Significativa (UEPS), preconizada por Marco Antonio Moreira. Foi estruturada em treze encontros, tendo por contextualização a Cultura Paraense. Evidenciou-se  que a pesquisa alcançou os objetivos propostos ao proporcionar aos alunos habilidades de tratamento da informação (decodificação, compreensão, interpretação e retenção) considerando sua participação em algumas etapas do método estatístico.
