Investigative activities with teachers in training from several courses: a formative experience for the Science teaching in Basic Education

Resumo: Although the Sciences represent a body of knowledge used to better understand the nature that surrounds us, they usually do not make sense to Basic Education students. We are facing is a problem in teaching that may be reflecting problems in teacher training. This is the reason why we have decided to invest in a project that made use of investigative activities during the initial training of Science teachers that will work in Basic Education. More than to discuss the importance of using this approach, the proposal was to have the majors effectively participate in, assess, and produce investigative activities. The project, carried out as an optional course, was developed with Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Pedagogy, and Physical Education majors from a public university. The goal was that the future Science teachers explored in a more deeply way the theoretical and methodological basis related to the approach and that they really experienced the implementation and analysis of investigative activities proposed in different formats. The classes consisted of readings, video exhibitions, discussions, activities, textual productions, and in-class presentations. We believe that the project may have effectively contributed to the training of these future Science teachers.

Estamos diante de um problema de ensino que pode estar refletindo problemas de formação docente. Por isso é que decidimos apostar em um projeto que fez uso de atividades investigativas durante a formação inicial de docentes de Ciências que atuarão na Educação Básica. Mais do que discutir a importância da utilização dessa abordagem, a proposta foi a de que os licenciandos efetivamente participassem, avaliassem e produzissem atividades investigativas. O projeto, materializado sob a forma de uma disciplina optativa, foi desenvolvido com licenciandos de Química, Física, Biologia, Pedagogia e Educação Física na Faculdade de Educação de uma universidade pública. O objetivo foi o de que os futuros professores de Ciências se aprofundassem sobre os fundamentos teórico-metodológicos ligados à abordagem e que experimentassem de fato a realização e análise de atividades investigativas propostas sob formatos diferentes. As aulas se constituíram por leituras, exibições de vídeos, discussões, realização de atividades, produções textuais e apresentações em sala.
