A mapping of theses and dissertations about teaching and learning of Algebra in Elementary School in Brazil

Resumo: This work presents results of a mapping developed dissertations and theses developed in Brazil with a focus on teaching and learning Algebra in Elementary Education, from 2008 to 2015. An initial bibliographical survey found 394 papers when registering the word "Algebra" in the search of the bank off data from CAPES and in contact with the Call Center of the Ministry of Education. in mathematics education area with a focus on teaching and learning of algebra in elementary school, available in CAPES site, from 2008 to 2015. There were the categorization and organization of the works from the reading of the abstracts and, 17 Master's dissertations and 3 PhD theses were selected to continue the study. From a literature survey, 23 works were selected, 21 dissertations and 2 theses. The analysis of this material allowed us to observe a variety of themes, about the learning of students, teachers, to methodologies used in the teaching and learning materials approved in PNLD or produced by State Departments of Education. It could be seen that was prioritized the study aimed at teachers and students of final years. Only one work was identified in which the development of algebraic thinking had as subjects of the early years teachers research, which allows us to conclude on the need for jobs that have a focus on students and teachers in this education stage, with the prospect of collaborating with the improvement of teaching and learning algebra.

Este trabalho apresenta resultados de um mapeamento de dissertações e teses desenvolvidas no Brasil com foco no ensino e na aprendizagem da Álgebra no Ensino Fundamental, de 2008 a 2015. Um levantamento bibliográfico inicial encontrou 394 trabalhos ao registrar a palavra “Álgebra” na busca do banco de dados da CAPES e em contato com a Central de Atendimento do Ministério da Educação. Houve a categorização e organização dos trabalhos a partir da leitura dos resumos e, foram selecionadas 17 dissertações de Mestrado e 3 teses de Doutorado para prosseguimento do estudo. A análise do material permitiu observar uma diversidade de temáticas, com olhares voltados para a aprendizagem de alunos, de professores, para metodologias utilizadas no processo de ensino e para materiais didáticos aprovados no PNLD ou produzidos por Secretarias da Educação. Pode-se verificar que, relativamente ao Ensino fundamental, é priorizado o estudo com professores e alunos dos anos finais.
