Meriti’s Regional School and the debates about educational politics of Associação Brasileira de Educação in the 1920 years

Resumo: The essay establishes relations between the conceptions of educational politics that were differently assumed by the members of the Directive Council of Associação Brasileira de Educação ( Brazilian Association of Education) in the 1920 years putting emphasis on those that guided the directors of Escola Regional de Meriti ( Meriti’s Regional School) . The essay makes the hypothesis of the existence of a link  between the private and regionalist inspiration that guided the foundation of this school and the project of using  Associação Brasileira de Educação as an instrument of formation of public opinion about educational questions that would establish interlocution with the State. The essay studies the field of the debates  constitutive of the differences of the members of the Director Council of the Association putting emphasis on the positions of the counselors Armanda Álvaro Alberto, Edgar Sussekind de Mendonça, Heitor Lyra da Silva and Francisco Venâncio Filho, who idealized the Meriti’s Regional School.

Levanta a hipótese de um elo entre a inspiração privatista e regionalista que norteou a fundação dessa escola e o projeto de fazer da ABE um órgão de formação de uma opinião pública sobre questões educacionais que mantivesse interlocução com o Estado. Aborda o campo de debates constitutivo das diferenças entre os integrantes do Conselho Diretor da Associação, destacando especialmente as posições dos conselheiros Armanda Álvaro Alberto, Edgar Süssekind de Mendonça, Heitor Lyra da Silva e Francisco Venâncio Filho, idealizadores da Escola Regional de Meriti.
