Resumo: This work deals with the risk of emergencies and disasters that affect the population in two municipalities in Alto Vale do Itajaí / SC, while discussing the costs of prevention and reconstruction in the management of these risks. Respondents were involved in eminent risk in the municipalities surveyed and also responsible for the security companies that has more than 50 employees. Often the population is exposed to risks, but do not know them. The data reveal that there is still no efficient management of risks in the municipalities surveyed although there is the presence of a hazard. Related information are not consistent and often neglected by public entities. It is concluded that still invests a lot in repairing the damage caused by the disaster rather than prevent them or mitigate them, which surely would have lower investment and programmability.

Se entrevistó a involucrados con riesgos inminentes en los municipios encuestados y también a responsables de la seguridad en empresas que tienen más de 50 empleados. La población muchas veces está expuesta a riesgos, pero no los conoce. Los datos revelan que aún no existe una gestión eficiente de los riesgos en los municipios encuestados, aunque existen situaciones de riesgo. La información relacionada no es consistente y, a menudo, las entidades públicas la descuidan. Se concluye que aún se invierte mucho en reparar los daños causados por los desastres en lugar de prevenirlos o mitigarlos, lo que ciertamente requeriría menores inversiones y permitiría una programación.Este trabalho trata de riscos de emergências e desastres que atingem a população de dois Municípios no Alto Vale do Itajaí/SC e, ao mesmo tempo discute os custos da prevenção e reconstrução na gestão desses riscos. Foram entrevistados envolvidos com riscos eminentes nos Municípios pesquisados e também responsáveis pela segurança nas empresas que mantém mais de 50 funcionários. Muitas vezes a população está exposta a riscos, mas não os conhece. Os dados revelam que ainda não há uma gestão eficiente dos riscos nos municípios pesquisados muito embora haja a presença de situações de risco. As informações relacionadas não são consistentes e muitas vezes negligenciadas pelos entes públicos.
