The origins’ recovery of Potuguese and Brazilian design’s from the parallel themes between the productions’ chronological phases by Aloisio Magalhães and Raul Cunca

Resumo: | This paper introduce the conceptual gaps in the history and theory of Brazilian design from a comprehensive view that searches for relationships between past and present ancestry on the Aloisio Magalhães and Raul Cunca’s productions. We observe if, after more than five hundred years of discovery of Brazil and around two hundred years after the political rupture between Brazil and Portugal, there still be be a relative approximation between the productions of the Brazilian designer Aloisio Magalhães (from 1975 to 1982) in contrast to Portuguese designer Raul Cunca (from 2012 to 2020). Although both chronologies of the prestigious designers are located in different contexts and far from the pre-independence period, would it be possible to observe similarities between the phases “Dimension of Culture” by Aloisio Magalhães and “To Inhabit the land” by Raul Cunca? Can we observe some relationships of identity and belonging between these designers? The analysis of similarities between these particular identities of these productions perhaps can show a broad orientation towards the relatively common origins of Brazilian and Portuguese design. |

En las relaciones entre el pasado y el presente, se busca rastrear registros de ascendencia en las obras de Aloisio Magalhães y Raul Cunca. Observamos si después de poco más de quinientos años de descubrimiento del Brasil y alrededor de doscientos años después de la ruptura política entre Brasil y Portugal, todavía podría haber una relativa aproximación entre las producciones del diseñador brasileño Aloisio Magalhães (entre 1975 y 1982) y el diseñador Raul Cunca (entre 2012 y 2020). ¿Aunque ambos diseñadores destacados pueden siturase en contextos distintos y distantes del periodo antes de la independencia, sería posible observar paralelos entre las fases “Dimensión de la Cultura” de Aloisio Maglhães y la “Habitar la tierra” de Raul Cunca? ¿Se podrían examinar bajo interrelaciones de búsqueda de identidad y pertenencia? El análisis de semejanza entre las dos identidades particulares de estas obras quizá pueda proporcionar una orientación más amplia acerca de las raíces relativamente comunes del diseño brasileño y portugués.Este artigo apresenta as lacunas conceituais da história e teoria do design brasileiro a partir de uma visão mais alargada, que busca nas relações entre passado e presente os registros de ancestralidade nas obras de Aloisio Magalhães e Raul Cunca. Procuramos observar se após pouco mais de quinhentos anos e de cerca de duzentos anos após a ruptura política entre Brasil e Portugal, ainda poderia haver uma relativa aproximação entre as obras do designer brasileiro Aloisio Magalhães (entre 1975 e 1982), e as obras do designer português Raul Cunca (entre 2012 e 2020). Embora se apresentem em contextos distintos e afastadas do período pré-independentista, seria possível observar paralelismos entre as fases “Dimensão da Cultura” de Aloisio Magalhães e a “Habitar a terra” de Raul Cunca? Seria possível observá-las sob inter-relações de busca de identidade e pertencimento?
