CENA DE INTERIOR II AND QUEERMUSEU: CARTOGRAPHY OF THE DIFFERENCES IN BRAZILIAN ART SILENCED AT PORTO ALEGRE (2017)

Resumo: This article intende to present the diferente narratives produced about Adriana Varejão ‘s “Cena de Interior II (1994)”, which was part of the exibition “Queermuseu: Cartografias da Diferença na Arte Brasileira” inaugurated and closed in 2017, in space Santander Cultural (Porto Alegre). Using studies on image, history and visual culture, this article analyzes the different narratives that this work provided in some of the exhibitions. Thinking that objects in a state of exposure accumulate discourses from different expository contexts (such as a film narrative), there is a network of (non-neutral) choices that are not exhausted in curatorial discourse. In this way, we can affirm that the same image can suffer different interpretations according to the exhibition space in which it is, as well as from the central theme of the exhibitions in which the work is present. Focusing on the specific study of the narrative produced by the work in the exhibition “Queermuseu”, we evidenced the attacks of the conservative groups, which led to its closure (silencing).

Combinando estudios sobre imagen, historia y cultura visual, este artículo analiza las distintas narrativas que esa obra provocó en algunas exposiciones. Pensando que los objetos en exposición acumulan discursos a partir de diferentes contextos (como una narrativa fílmica), hay una red de selecciones (no neutras) que no se agota en el discurso curatorial. De esta forma, podemos afirmar que la misma imagen puede sufrir varias interpretaciones de acuerdo con el espacio expositivo, así como a partir del tema central de las exposiciones. Centrándose en el estudio específico de la narrativa producida por la obra en la exposición “Queermuseu”, evidenciamos los ataques de los grupos conservadores, que llevaron a su cierre (silenciamiento).Este artigo pretende apresentar diferentes narrativas produzidas sobre e a partir da obra "Cena de Interior II (1994)", de Adriana Varejão, que compunha a exposição "Queermuseu: Cartografias da Diferença na Arte Brasileira" inaugurada em 2017, no espaço Santander Cultural (Porto Alegre). Mesclando estudos sobre imagem, história e cultura visual, este artigo analisa as distintas narrativas que essa obra provocou em algumas exposições. Pensando que os objetos em exposição acumulam discursos a partir de diferentes contextos (como uma narrativa fílmica), há uma rede de escolhas (não neutras) que não se esgotam no discurso curatorial. Dessa forma, podemos afirmar que a mesma imagem pode sofrer várias interpretações de acordo com o espaço expositivo, bem como a partir do tema central das exposições.
