The body and the Modamática: a pedagogical experience report about the Cartesian Moulage

Resumo: This article reports the pedagogical experience involved in the application of Cartesian Moulage at the Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina (IFSC), Campus Jaraguá do Sul (Brazil), in particular, in the context of the technical course in Clothing Modeling and the higher technology course in Fashion Design. Methodologically, the article consists of an applied, descriptive and qualitative research. Based on a bibliographic review about the concept of modamática and with the support of a field notebook, the scenario found before and after the application of the technique was narrated. Based on the report, it was inferred that cartesian moulage has potentialities that can be explored by the academic community interested in apparel patternmaking and that, from the students and professors point of view, the technique can contribute significantly to understand the three-dimensionality of the human body when facing the challenge of apparel design.

Metodológicamente, el artículo consiste en una investigación aplicada, descriptiva y cualitativa. A partir de una revisión bibliográfica sobre el concepto de modamática y con el apoyo de un cuaderno de campo, se narró el escenario encontrado antes y después de la aplicación de la técnica. Con base en el informe, se infirió que el moulage cartesiano tiene potencialidades que pueden ser exploradas por la comunidad académica interesada en el Modelaje de Indumentaria y que, desde el punto de vista de los estudiantes y profesores, la técnica puede contribuir significativamente a la comprensión de la tridimensionalidad del cuerpo humano frente al desafío del diseño de indumentaria.O presente artigo relata a experiência pedagógica envolvida na aplicação da Moulage cartesiana no âmbito do Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina (IFSC), Campus Jaraguá do Sul (SC), em especial, no contexto do curso técnico em Modelagem do Vestuário e do curso superior de tecnologia em Design de Moda. Metodologicamente, o artigo consiste em uma pesquisa aplicada, descritiva e qualitativa. A partir de uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o conceito de Modamática e com o apoio de um caderno de campo, narrou-se o cenário encontrado antes e depois da aplicação da técnica.
