Resumo: This paper addresses the Educational Program of Resistance to Drugs and Violence, and the public policy of prevention of drug abuse and combat violence, sponsored by the Military Police of Ceará. This is a public policy of the State Government, developed in classrooms, by properly uniformed police officers, initially applied in groups of fifth and sixth grades of elementary school. The program PROERD had its origin in the United States, through the teacher and psychological counselor Ruth Rich, School District of Los Angeles - USA, in 1983, in conjunction with the Police Department of that city, arrived in Brazil in 90 years, initially in Rio de Janeiro, and Ceará in 2001, first applied in the capital of Ceara and from 2002 was extended to municipalities in the state.
