Interiorization of the State University of Pará:: a study of the Santarém Campus

The University of Pará (UEPA) expanded its operations into the state with the creation fifteen (15) college campuses. This trajectory of the institution, particularly in the municipality of Santarém, through the creation of the campus, led the development of this theme. What investigated was the process of internalization of a state public university, from the interpretation of the actors participating in its implementation in the municipality of Santarém. We sought to analyze the importance of internalization as a strategy for expansion of higher education, as happened this process and community input regarding the future vision. The survey was developed based on studies: literature review, document analysis and exploratory field research. To collect data we used questionnaire with open questions, applied to members of the body: teachers, students, technical and administrative. Interviews were conducted with former presidents and former coordinator of the campus in search of aid in reconstructing the history of the internalization of the university. For data analysis, we used the content analysis. The results led to the alert, by the informants, with suggestions that would enable the growth of the institution in directing paths to achieving these goals.
