Resumo: This article presents partial results of an ongoing research in the Doctoral course in Linguistic Studies, of the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, in the Applied Linguistics line. It is linked to the activities of the Research Group on Reading and Text Production/Ufes and develops from of an action research carried out in a public school in the municipality of Serra, state of Espírito Santo, with a view to applying a didactic sequence designed to work with the news genre, in a class of the 7th grade of elementary school. Among the selected news are those published on the Sensacionalista website, which demand recognition of aspects related to the site's intentionality, such as intertextuality and irony. In this sense, this article is theoretically supported by the studies of Bakhtin and his Circle (1993), Dolz, Noverraz and Schneuwly (2004), Koch, Bentes and Cavalcante (2012), Conceição and Domingos (2012), among others. From the analysis of a news produced, collaboratively, by a group of students in the class, considering the initial production, the aspects related to classroom episodes that occurred during the application of the didactic sequence and the final production of the news , the possible effects of the didactic sequence on the teaching and learning of the Portuguese language are verified. The results of this analysis allow us to corroborate that, due to the intertextuality and other resources used by the website, such as irony, it is possible to develop the critical reflection of students who, in the production of texts, say a lot about the place where they live.
