This research aims to compare the conception of childhood between Carlos, a mil boy, literary work by José Lins do Rego, Pacu, character in the film Abril Despedaçado and the childhood of one of the researchers. It is a research of qualitative descriptive approach, of childhood analysis both of literature, cinema and real life, discussing the different forms of childhood and how they are influenced by the context where they live. The social and economic differences between the three stories are noticeable, the privilege of being a boy of mills, with different opportunities in schooling, the presence of child labor - the result of subsistence and denial of public policies. As well as the similarities between the ways of playing, family conflicts, the mother's absence.
