Writings and representations of Jandira Pinto: the reformulator of Pindobal in Paraíba in the 20th century

Resumo: This article purposes to present the educator and social assistant Jandira Pinto, in the context of 1950s, focusing on the speeches published on O Norte newspaper, related to her performance at President João Pessoa Professional School (Pindobal). We used the theoretical-methodological approach of New Cultural History, as well as the Press History, focusing the writings and representations about Jandira Pinto on O Norte’s pages. The results are immersed in the statement that Jandira Pinto is presented on O Norte newspaper as the reformulator model of correctional methods at Pindobal. Her pedagogical and assistential positions to Paraíba’s “misfits minors” are based on humanism and religious syncretism, developing relationships of trust, loving and respect with Pindobal’s young internals.

Utilizamos a abordagem teórico-metodológica da Nova História Cultural, bem como da História da Impressa, focalizando os escritos e as representações sobre Jandira Pinto nas páginas do O Norte.
