Resumo: Through this article, we present the Prophets of Rain, essential social actors in the Northeastern hinterland, especially in Ceará – popular agents that symbolize the ancestry and resistance, tradition and ancient knowledge of the hinterlanders and that have been transmitted generationally, through orality, for centuries. To anchor our investigation – a research of a basic nature, with a qualitative approach and an exploratory objective – we base ourselves on the academic works of researchers in the area, such as: Almeida (2018), Pereira (2019), Santos (2019) and Taddei (2015). We conclude that the study of the Rain Prophets is invaluable, even if we have enough technology from government institutions to make the same predictions they predict. Preserving and disseminating this ancestral knowledge is to insist on resistance, believing that more current knowledge can and should dialogue with the oldest in favor of preserving Northeastern memory and culture.
