Resumo: The conception and perception of teachers regarding climate change are important elements for environmental education. The aim of this article is to understand the conceptions and perceptions of climate change from the perspective of science teachers from schools located near the Piranji River (CE). For such, a 7-question questionnaire was sent to three science teachers from two schools located near the Piranji River, and the answers were analyzed using content analysis (Bardin). The participating teachers define climate change succinctly, without including elements of causes and consequences of the phenomenon. Moreover, the general effects on planet Earth which they perceive have a direct relationship with the effects they observe in the Piranji River. Therefore, the perception and conception of the participating teachers are essential for the development of environmental education projects at Piranji which involve the school and the riverine communities.

O objetivo desse artigo é compreender as concepções e as percepções sobre as mudanças climáticas na perspectiva de professores de ciências de escolas situadas próximas ao rio Piranji (CE). Para tanto, um questionário com 7 perguntas foi enviado para três professores de Ciências de duas escolas situadas próximas ao Rio Piranji, tendo as respostas sido analisadas a partir da análise do conteúdo (Bardin). Os professores participantes definem as mudanças climáticas de forma sucinta, sem incluir elementos de causas e consequências do fenômeno. Além disso, os efeitos gerais no planeta Terra que eles percebem têm relação direta com os efeitos que observam no Rio Piranji.
