Resumo: | The present text intends to describe a reading teaching experience carried out in an elementary school, having as main resource a school newspaper produced by the students themselves and their teachers. Its theme becomes relevant, given the importance of teaching reading skills through several strategies with the intention of training proficient readers. For this reason, the bibliographic research was used, having as main consulted theorists: Solé (1998), Kleiman (2004) and Koch and Elias (2006), which through their works can be noticed the various strategies to be used in the classroom, in search of a meaningful reading for the student. The results of the study show that actions developed by educators in the classrooms, like the reported experience, can make a difference with regard to the full mastery of reading ability. |

Sua temática torna-se relevante, tendo em vista a importância que tem o ensino das habilidades leitoras por meio das inúmeras estratégias com a intenção da formação de leitores proficientes. Por esta razão, foi utilizado, o tipo de pesquisa bibliográfica, tendo como principais teóricos consultados: Solé (1998), Kleiman (2004) e Koch e Elias (2006), que através de suas obras podem-se perceber as muitas estratégias a serem utilizadas em sala de aula, em busca de uma leitura significativa para o aluno leitor.
