Resumo: The present article deals with the history of the patronage and normal school Zefinha Gomes as an object of study related to the themes of the history of education. This is qualitative research, supported by a literature review on the theme and by field research, through the application of semi-structured interviews. With this study, we identified the local social movement and the public and private articulations supported by the Catholic clergy, aiming for the creation and operation of school institutions in the city of Milagres, aiming for the expansion of the educational offer in the city and region. It can be concluded that patronage memory is an important historical category for research on the history of education in the state of Ceará, specifically on the history of the city of Milagres, because it was composed of concrete elements revisited in the production of verbal and nonverbal narratives from subjects who participated directly and/or indirectly in the respective processes.

Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza qualitativa, apoiada na revisão de literatura sobre o tema e na pesquisa de campo, por meio da aplicação de entrevista semiestruturada. Com esse estudo, identificou-se o movimento social local e as articulações públicas e privadas, apoiadas pelo clero católico objetivando a criação e funcionamento de instituição escolar na cidade de Milagres, visando a expansão da oferta educativa no município e região.
