Afro-Brazilian history and culture in basic education

Resumo: The objective is to discuss Law n° 639/2003, focusing on its consequences in the formation of the student, based on a study of a bibliographic approach, that is, through what has been produced on the subject. It is understood that the teaching of History and Afro-Brazilian culture is a mechanism that corroborates to alleviate the historical debt that Brazil has with Afro-Brazilian groups, since the Eurocentric culture was prioritized to the detriment of the African, which in turn , became invisible and relegated to the background of importance inside and outside the school environment. Thus, it is crucial for the formation of subjects who are more aware of respect for diversity and equal rights, regardless of skin color and, for this very reason, Afro-Brazilian history and culture, as an interdisciplinary subject in the meantime of the entire basic schooling, can mitigate prejudiced behavior inside and outside the school space.

Entende-se que o ensino da História e da cultura afro-brasileira é um mecanismo que corrobora para amenizar a dívida histórica que o Brasil tem com os grupos afro-brasileiros, pois a cultura eurocentrista foi priorizada em detrimento da africana, que por sua vez, passou a ser invisibilizada e relegada a segundo plano de importância dentro e fora do ambiente escolar.
