Challenges for the democratization of education in Brazil

Resumo: In the Federal Constitution of 1988, education is considered a right for all, being the duty of the State and the family. However, there are many gaps regarding the achievement of guaranteed access to education, since it is a complex process that involves different segments. In this context, this work aims to promote discussions about the challenges in the democratization of education in Brazil, through a bibliographical research, using the studies of Paro (2001, 2007, 2008) and Formosinho (2007). Considering the democratization of education as a means of providing the right to education in a greater extent, it is concluded that, in a country marked by so many inequalities, the democratization of education is presented as a possibility of historical reparation for the masses.

Entretanto, há muitas lacunas no que tange a concretização da garantia do acesso à educação, uma vez que se trata de um processo complexo que envolve diversos segmentos da educação. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho objetiva fomentar discussões sobre os desafios na democratização do ensino no Brasil, mediante uma pesquisa bibliográfica, utilizando os estudos de Paro (2001, 2007, 2008) e Formosinho (2007).
