Resumo: Academic Medicine Leagues (LAM) are organizations carried out by students under the guidance of a professor, ideally aimed at helping to solve problems of interest to the community. The number of LAMs has increased in Brazil, not always in compliance with their ideals. This narrative review aims to identify the alignment needs since the beginning of this project until its periodic assessment. The bibliographic survey was carried out in LILACS and Medline databases with a selection of many scientific articles published over the last 10 years, based on the role of LAM in medical training and its regulation. As a result, LAM´s favorable and unfavorable points regarding medical training and some paths towards its regulation were pointed out.

O número de LAM no Brasil tem crescido, nem sempre alinhados à sua idealização. Esta revisão narrativa objetiva identificar as necessidades de alinhamento, desde a criação até a avaliação periódica. A busca bibliográfica foi realizada nas bases de dados Lilacs e Medline, de artigos científicos publicados nos últimos 10 anos, baseados no papel das LAM na formação médica e sua regulamentação.
