Educação, Comunicação e Extensão no Projeto Mundo Quandu (FACEDI/UECE): desafios e possibilidades

This article discusses the relationship between education, communication and extension in the Mundo Quandu Extension Project: social communication, culture and environment, developed at the Faculty of Education of Itapipoca, State University of Ceará (FACEDI/UECE). From the theoretical contribution of the educator Paulo Freire, mainly the one contained in his book: “Extension or Communication?” (1985), the relations between education, communication and extension in the Quandu World are problematized, perceiving its conditions, impasses and perspectives. For this analysis, a qualitative methodology was used, combined with bibliographic research, aiming at a better understanding of the topic discussed here. In this way, the discussion of the existing relationships between education, communication and extension inscribed in the Mundo Quandu Project enables the social, cultural, political and educational contextualization of a series of actions and practical activities experienced between the teaching and student field, the projects extension, the university and society. Among these activities, we list the theoretical and practical development of collective work skills that involve research, teaching and extension, thematic guidelines and research, reading and writing processes, textual revisions, the development of interviews, of books and documentaries and the production of digital content for Portal Quandu. The article points out the challenges and possibilities existing in the relations between this range of activities, the perspective of a democratic Public University and the processes of democratization and internalization of access to quality information among the population residing in the municipality of Itapipoca and region.
