Design as a transformation engine in the society: The experience of professional training of young apprentices

Resumo: The rising unemployment rate and the labor market highly demanding impose challenges and barriers that can be somewhat insurmountable for people living in conditions of social vulnerability, often leading to precarious working conditions or to marginality. The social design approach can identify potentialities and dialogue with the actors involved to seek innovative social solutions associated with education and affirmative public policies. This project was carried out with institutionalized young people in condition of social vulnerability, with the objective of promoting professional training actions for the production of jewelry and accessories products to attend the local market. The results showed not only the success of learning, but also the emergence of the culture of entrepreneurship, engagement and increased self-esteem.

El diseño social puede identificar potencialidades y dialogar con los actores involucrados para buscar soluciones sociales innovadoras asociadas a políticas educativas y acciones afirmativas. Este proyecto se realizó con jóvenes institucionalizados en vulnerabilidad social, con el objetivo de promover acciones de formación profesional para la elaboración de productos de joyería y accesorios, atendiendo al mercado local. Los resultados mostraron no solo el éxito del aprendizaje, sino también el surgimiento de una cultura de emprendimiento, compromiso y aumento de la autoestima.O índice de desemprego crescente e o mercado de trabalho cada vez mais exigente geram desafios e barreiras que podem ser, de certa forma, intransponíveis para os indivíduos que vivem em condições de vulnerabilidade social, levando a trabalhos precárias ou à marginalidade. O design social pode identificar potencialidades e dialogar com os atores envolvidos para buscar soluções sociais inovadoras associadas com políticas educacionais e ações afirmativas. Este projeto foi realizado com jovens institucionalizados em vulnerabilidade social, com o objetivo de promover ações de capacitação profissionalizante para produção de produtos de joalheria e acessórios, atendendo ao mercado local.
