Resumo: Taking place in Lapa, state of Paraná, Brazil, the Congada includes the festivities in honor of Saint Benedict and is a Festival which combines a cultural miscellanea with African, Portuguese and Brazilian characteristics. This paper aims to present how clothing behaves as a symbolic and meaningful component of the Lapa’s Congada. A documentary produced by LUX AGD in 2004 along with the folkloric book Congadas Paranaenses by José Loureiro Fernandes are used as sources for this research.
