Resumo: Brazilian industrial design - design - is nearing completion of a half century of existence. During this time, it has undergone transformations, like any social phenomenon. It has broadened its horizons, expanded its markets, developed pedagogically, taken new responsibilities, adopted new names, and adapted exogenous methods to its reality. Finally, it has matured both as a field of knowledge and profession. However, some issues of language and pedagogy must be revised and reviewed in greater depth.
