Resumo: | The frequency of staphylococcal intoxication requires constant improvements to provide more sensitive and practical assays for enterotoxins detection in foods. Considering that such an advantage is always related to an unexpected events, this view point approaches about recent available resources to reduce the problems associated with new techniques. Emphasis was appointed to the culture formulations for enterotoxin purification, as the remotion of food components which interfire with the most simplied method of enterotoxin detection, the latex agglutination assay- RPLA. |

A freqüente ocorrência de intoxicação estafilocócica requer desenvolvimento de métodos rápidos de diagnóstico, cada vez mais sensíveis e práticos para a detecção direta de enterotoxinas em alimentos. Considerando que estes métodos são constantemente acompanhados por imprevistos, nesta revisão apresenta-se um ponto de vista sobre os atuais recursos disponíveis, para contornar os problemas oriundos com o lançamento de novas técnicas. Ênfase foi dada aos meios de cultura que facilitam a purificação de enterotoxinas, assim como a eliminação de componentes alimentares no método de aglutinação de látex - RPLA, que consiste de técnica simples com alta sensibilidade para a detecção de enterotoxinas estafilocócicas.
