Relationship between field emergency, water imbibing and electrical conductivity of soybean seeds

Resumo: | Soybean seeds of the cultivars Doko, UFV-14 Cristalina EMGOPA-302 and FT-11 each one represented by five lots from the region of Goiatuba-GO - Brasil, were evaluated through the following tests: Humidity test; weight of 1000 seeds; germination test; germination during four days; accelerated aging; electrical conductivity through the modifield bulk method (LOEFFLER, 1981), using four samples of 50 seeds of the pure portion, without selection, imersed in 75 ml of distilled water for 24 hours at 25° C; rapid water imbibing test, using 2 repetitions of 100 seeds of each lot, which were set in trails, with individual cells, were each seed was covered with 4 ml of water and after 5 minutes the seeds which were intumesced and with the tegument separated of the cotiledons were counted. Only the tests of rapid water imbibing, electric conductivity and the four-day germination correlated significantly with the field emergency; consequenty it was possible to differentiate between the cultivars in relation to seed quality. EMGOPA-302 had the worst performance, while UFV-14 and DOKO were the best ones. |

Sementes de soja dos cultivares DOKO, UFV-14, Cristalina, EMGOPA-302 e FT-11, cada um representado por cinco lotes provenientes da região de Goiatuba-GO (Safra 88/89) foram avaliados através dos seguintes testes: grau de umidade; peso de 1000 sementes; germinação; germinação aos quatro dias; envelhecimento artificial pelo método do "gerbox" a 42°C por 48 horas; condutividade elétrica pelo método "bulk" modificado, utilizando quatro amostras de 50 sementes da porção pura, sem escolha, imersas em 75 ml de água destilada à 25°C por 24 horas; avaliação rápida por embebição com 2 repetições de 100 sementes de cada lote, as quais foram colocadas em bandejas de compartimentos individualizados onde cada semente foi coberta com aproximadamente 4 ml de água e após 5 minutos foram contadas as sementes que se apresentavam intumescidas com o tegumento nitidamente desprendido dos cotiledones, Todos os testes foram correlacionados com o teste de emergência das plântulas em campo. Apenas os testes de avaliação rápida por "embebição", condutividade elétrica e germinação aos quatro dias, correlacionaram-se significativamente com a emergência em campo e permitiram diferenciar os cultivares e lotes testados quanto a qualidade das sementes. EMGOPA-302 teve o pior desempenho enquanto UFV-14 e DOKO os melhores.
