Resumo: The objetive of this work was to evaluate plasma use as an alternative material for antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii analysis. A total of 312 canine plasma samples, whereas 85 samples with equivalent sera were collected for posterior testing and comparision by immunofluorescence assay. The animals were grouped according to the breed, age, diet and sex. There were 73 (23,40%) positive and of the reactor dogs: 28 animals (8,98%) were purebreed dogs, whereas 45 (14,42%) were mongrel dogs; 18 (5,77%) were fed with commercial diets, 34 (10,90%) ate homemade food and 21 (6,73%) ate commercial diets and homemade food. Of the affected dogs, 39 (12,50%) were females and 34 (10,90%) were males. There was significantly statistical difference (P£0,05) among animals breed, age and diet. From 85 sera and plasma samples, 81 (95,30%) were equivalent as to antibody titres. Significant positive correlation between sera and plasma was observed by Kappa test (k=0r917), suggesting that plasma can be used as an alternative material.

Significant positive correlation between sera and plasma was observed by Kappa test (k=0r917), suggesting that plasma can be used as an alternative material. UEL1997-01-15info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://ojs.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/semagrarias/article/view/425310.5433/1679-0359.1997v18n1p15Semina: Ciências Agrárias; Vol. 18 No. 1 (1997); 15-21Semina: Ciências Agrárias; v. 18 n. 1 (1997); 15-211679-03591676-546Xreponame:Semina.
