Resumo: This paper discusses the importance and indispensability of Law 10639/2003 emphasizing the key role played by people of African descent in the construction of Brazil's history and the circumstances that led to the creation of the aforementioned Act are also examined as are established ethnic relations in the school context, the manifestations of discrimination in the school environment committed by both the students, teachers, directors, etc., and the way teachers and schools should deal with racism and prejudice, it briefly on the issue of education maroon, and the application of law by both the teacher and the school, showing routes to be followed by educators through the reframing of the concepts of some words used in everyday school life.
