Resumo: The objective of our research was to identify possible models for the painting and, eventually, the carving and sculpture of Minas Gerais during the period between the last decades of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century, when occurred the maximum rococo’s production on that captaincy, later province. Through surveys conducted in archival funds of Ouro Preto, Mariana and the Colégio do Caraça, Santa Barbara, we had access to several books with prints and other ornamentation, images that, as previous studies, would compose the collection of imagery available to contractors of works of arts and artists working in that geographic area and in that time frame. So, in view of this, we believe have reached interesting results both in order to know the artistic influences exerted in that period and ambience, Portuguese and transpyrenean either, as the ways they get along, or at about the effective use of prints as models for painting and sculpture. And finally, we seek to present hypotheses, in our trial, sustainable, about specific models used by Manuel da Costa Ataíde (1762-1830) and Antônio Francisco Lisboa (1730-1814), the Aleijadinho, to create some of his works.
