Research-care in the breastfeeding process of babies with cleft lip and palate in light of Kolcaba’s theory

Resumo: Objective: to unveil the experience of mothers of babies with cleft lip and palate as to breastfeeding, identify the care needs of these mothers and propose nursing care to mothers and babies in light of Kolcaba’s theory. Method: this is a research-care with a qualitative approach with 20 mothers of babies with cleft lip and palate through nursing consultation. Content analysis was adopted. Results: the context units emerged: physical and private comfort during breastfeeding; baby satiety; breastfeeding management; support from health professionals. Conclusion: it is concluded that the most important need reported by most mothers is babies’ hunger satiety. It is notorious to transfer mother comfort to baby comfort, which can configure transcendence in this aspect, i.e., comfortable newborn, comfortable mother.

Método: investigación-atención con abordaje cualitativo, con 20 madres de bebés con labio y paladar hendido, a través de la consulta de enfermería. Se adoptó el análisis de contenido. Resultados: las unidades de confort físico y privado emergieron durante la lactancia; saciedad del bebé; manejo de la lactancia materna; apoyo de los profesionales de la salud. Conclusión: se concluye que la necesidad más importante reportada por la mayoría de las madres es la saciedad por hambre del bebé. Es notorio trasladar la comodidad de la madre a la comodidad del bebé, lo que puede configurar la trascendencia en este aspecto, es decir, recién nacido cómodo, madre cómoda.Objetivo: desvelar a experiência de mães de bebês com fissuras labio palatinas quanto ao aleitamento materno, identificar as necessidades de cuidados destas mães e propor cuidados de enfermagem a mães e aos bebês à luz da teoria de Kolcaba. Método: pesquisa-cuidado com abordagem qualitativa, com 20 mães de bebês com fissuras labio palatinas, por meio da consulta de enfermagem. Adotou-se análise de conteúdo. Resultados: emergiram as unidades de contexto conforto físico e privativo durante a amamentação; saciedade do bebê; manejo da alimentação com leite materno; suporte e apoio dos profissionais de saúde. Conclusão: conclui-se que a necessidade mais importante relatada por grande parte das mães é a saciedade da fome do bebê.
