Sociodemographic and clinical profile of patients admitted under palliative care

Resumo: Objective: To identify the sociodemographic and clinical profile of patients admitted under palliative care. Methods: This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. Data collection was performed through research in electronic medical records. A structured form was used to collect the information of interest. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. Results: Most patients were female (53.8%), with a mean age of 69 years. The main reason for admission was dyspnea (24.4%) and the most recurrent diagnosis was head and neck cancer (24.4%; n=98). Regarding the outcome, 53.1% of the patients were discharged from the hospital and the mean number of days of admission was 9.6. Conclusion: The data obtained allowedto know the sociodemographic and clinical profile of patients, in order to favor the planning of care and, with the incorporation of palliative care, promote better quality of life.

Métodos: Estudio descriptivo con abordaje cuantitativo, cuya recolección de datos se realizó a través de la investigación en historias clínicas electrónicas. Se utilizó un formulario estructurado para recolectar la información de interés. Para el análisis de datos se utilizó estadística descriptiva. Resultados: La mayoría de los pacientes eran mujeres (53,8%), con una edad media de 69 años. El principal motivo de ingreso fue la disnea (24,4%) y el diagnóstico más recurrente fue el cáncer de cabeza y cuello (24,4%; n=98). En cuanto al resultado, el 53,1% de los pacientes fueron dados de alta y la media de días de estancia hospitalaria fue de 9,6. Conclusión: Los datos obtenidos permitieron conocer el perfil sociodemográfico y clínico de los pacientes con el fin de favorecer la planificación de los cuidados y, con la incorporación de los cuidados paliativos, promover una mejor calidad de vida.Objetivo: Identificar o perfil sociodemográfico e clínico de pacientes internados sob cuidados paliativos. Métodos: Estudo descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, cuja coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de pesquisa em prontuários eletrônicos Foi utilizado um formulário estruturado para coleta das informações de interesse Para análise dos dados, foram utilizadas estatísticas descritivas. Resultados: A maioria dos pacientes era do sexo feminino (53,8%) com idade média de 69 anos. O principal motivo de internação foi a dispneia (24,4%) e o diagnóstico mais recorrente foi câncer de cabeça e pescoço (24,4%; n= 98). Em relação ao desfecho, 53,1% dos pacientes tiveram alta hospitalar e a média de dias de internação foi de (9,6%).
