Resumo: This paper analyzes an emerging genre of electronic literature: the “twovel”, in which works on Twitter share characteristics with the novel as a genre, but with the addition of technical and aesthetic particularities of “twitterature”. To do so, we present the genre and then analyze three narratives: “I discovered a murder on Twitter”, by Modesto García (@modesto_garcia); “#RedMonkey”, by the same author, but in partnership with Manuel Bartual (@ManuelBartual); and “Boi”, by Eduardo Hanzo (@EduardoHanzo). We focus on the structure and organization of tweets; the multimedia resources used; the interaction between writer and readers; and the characteristics these texts take on Twitter. We realized that the “thread” tool, a Twitter feature created in 2017, allows more practicality in writing, sharing and reading, and that hypermedia resources help in terms of verisimilitude, characters economy and dynamism in these works. It also allows more direct and indirect interactions between authors and readers. Thus, we conclude that tweetnovels make up an innovative genre, within the third generation of electronic literature; that their style is a blend of literary creation and Twitter’s techno-communicational affordances; and that the “thread” tool is a turning point in the aesthetics of the genre.
