Democracy in Brazil: a confrontation between the main theoretical perspectives in the first half of the twentieth century

Resumo: This article is a reflection on the main currents of thought that were debated in the first half of the 20th century, in Brazil, around the question of democracy. However, some elements of this problem at the end of the 19th century were pointed out as a way of apprehending the aspects that, strictly speaking, constituted data that clarified the direction the debate took in the period analyzed here.
