Resumo: This article discusses the concept of the state proposed by Émile Durkheim, as well as its implications in the fields of human and social sciences, considering the sociological bias of its analysis. From its most significant works, it aims to analyze its contributions to the consolidation of a political sociology and, above all, to the current political debate. For this, some important questions are raised about its definition of State, aiming, from the interpretations recognized by the specialized literature, to confront it with the social reality that it encloses in the modern and contemporary world. It is, therefore, an eminently bibliographical work, of a revisionist nature, which seeks, starting from a dialogue with primary and secondary sources, to map the development and maturation of this concept within Durkheim's work.

Sobre la base de sus trabajos más significativos, el objetivo es analizar sus contribuciones a la consolidación de una sociología política y, sobre todo, al debate político actual. Por lo tanto, se plantean algunas preguntas importantes sobre su definición de Estado, con el objetivo, a partir de las interpretaciones respaldadas por la literatura especializada, de confrontarlo con la realidad social que encierra en el mundo moderno y contemporáneo. Es, por lo tanto, un trabajo eminentemente bibliográfico, de naturaleza revisionista, que busca, a través de un diálogo con fuentes primarias y secundarias, mapear el desarrollo y la maduración de este concepto dentro del trabajo de Durkheim.Este artigo discute o conceito de Estado proposto por Émile Durkheim, bem como suas implicações nos campos das ciências humanas e sociais, considerando o viés sociológico de sua análise. A partir de seus trabalhos mais significativos, visa-se analisar suas contribuições para a consolidação de uma sociologia política e, sobremaneira, para o debate político atual. Para tanto, levanta-se algumas questões importantes acerca de sua definição de Estado, objetivando, a partir das interpretações endossadas pela literatura especializada, confrontá-la com a realidade social que encerra no mundo moderno e contemporâneo.
