Resumo: This article aims to analyze how the French sociologist Emile Durkheim positioned against the socialism of the phenomenon, highlighting their impressions, their criticism and the solutions that are offered to the dilemmas faced by socialists. Thus, we intend to rescue a discussion that, at the end of the nineteenth century, but also in much of the twentieth century, gained notoriety in academic and intellectual circles, especially in Europe and inspire a debate about the strengths and weaknesses of socialist thought.
