Resumo: This paper examines the early extensionof public service concessions. It isjustified, among other reasons, becausethe early extension of numerous concessions was recently authorized inBrazil by several normative acts, so thereis much theoretical and practical interestin Brazil at this time. Therefore, theobjective of this article is to verifywhether the early extension is, or not,compatible with the Constitution of theBrazilian Republic. And the researchhypothesis is that this kind of extension isconstitutional. The approach to the themeis deductive, and the research method isbibliographical. Finally, the mainconclusion of this article is that the earlyextension of public service concessions iscompatible with the Constitution of theBrazilian Republic, which confirms theresearch hypothesis.

Ele justifica-se, dentre outras razões, porque a prorrogação antecipada de inúmeras concessões foi autorizada recentemente no Brasil por diversos atos normativos, de modo que o interesse teórico e prático pelo tema realmente é muito grande neste momento em nosso País. Assim sendo, o objetivo deste artigo é verificar se a prorrogação antecipada é, ou não, compatível com a Constituição da República. E a hipótese de pesquisa é que essa espécie de prorrogação é constitucional. O método de abordagem do tema é o dedutivo, e o método de pesquisa, o bibliográfico.
