Postmodern Olympians: a glimpse over celebrity’s photographs

Resumo: | This article discusses the concept of olympians, proposed by the theoretician Edgar Morin, under the perspective of the photography. It was chosen an Oscar 2009 photograph – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - published in 4th march 2009, on the Brazilian magazine called Veja, and other images of secondary importance for the understanding of the chosen theory. The study did not analyzed the photo; instead it was discussed the concepts about the photograph act, as well as the relationship between photographer, photographed subject and images´ consumers, along with the question about the double in photograph – reality, illusion; distance, proximity; life, death. |

O artigo aborda o conceito de olimpianos, proposto pelo teórico Edgar Morin, sob a perspectiva da fotografia. Escolheu-se uma foto da cobertura do Oscar 2009 – do casal Brad Pitt e Angelina Jolie - publicada na revista Veja, em 4 de março de 2009, além de outras imagens de importância secundárias para a compreensão da teoria abordada. Não foi efetuada análise das fotografias, mas sim dos conceitos e dos efeitos desse tipo de imagem na sociedade. Foram levantados conceitos pertinentes ao ato de fotografar, assim como a relação entre fotógrafo, sujeito fotografado e consumidor de imagens. A questão do duplo na fotografia – realidade, ilusão; distância, proximidade; vida, morte.
